Se si mette l'arma in sicura e si tira il grilletto, il percussore può liberarsi dal dente di scatto, specialmente se l'arma è rivolta verso il basso, dopodiché si appoggia alla capsula. Basta allora un urto sulla noce del percussore e il colpo parte.
