Biografia • I rifugi della scrittura. Charlotte Brontë nasce il 21 aprile 1816 a Thornton nello Yorkshire (Inghilterra), terza figlia del Reverendo Patrick Brontë e di Maria Branwell. Il padre era di umili origini, figlio di fittavoli, era però riuscito, grazie alla forza di volontà, a studiare a Cambridge e a prendere gli ordini sacerdotali.

Jane Eyre (/ ɛər / AIR; originally published as Jane Eyre: An Autobiography) is a novel by the English writer Charlotte Brontë. It was published under her pen name "Currer Bell" on 19 October 1847 by Smith, Elder & Co. of London.
Charlotte Brontë (21 April 1816 – 31 March 1855) was an English novelist and poet. She first published her works, including Jane Eyre, under the pseudonym (false name) of Currer Bell. In 1846, Charlotte encouraged her sisters to print Poems by Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell. They did not sell well.
