Cornelius Fudge was portrayed in the Harry Potter films by the late Robert Hardy. He appeared in Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix. Fudge's appearance in Goblet of Fire, however, is very brief, and only his voice is heard with him not being visible at any point in Half-Blood Prince.

Cornelius Fudge was the Minister for Magic for six years, and was in office for several key wizarding events, such as the escape of Sirius Black from Azkaban, Harry Potter's disciplinary hearing, and perhaps most notably, the ascent of Lord Voldemort.

He had been Junior Minister in the Department of Magical Catastrophes when Sirius Black was arrested for the murder of Peter Pettigrew ( PA10 ).
