20 feb 2018 · As Ronsel himself notes early in the film, “The first things and the last things … they always stick the hardest.” And so “Mudbound” returns to its visual roots for its heartwarming finale, full of vibrant browns and greens, supported by ecstatic black and white characters. Once again, red enters the frame.
While walking around in a nice suit in a city, though still appearing unsettling, Jamie says that he hoped "Pappy's untimely death" brought Ronsel's family peace, and for Ronsel to find happiness, though he himself didn't find peace.
