documenta is a non-profit organization that organizes the documenta exhibitions, a forum for current trends in contemporary art and a place where innovative and standards-setting exhibition concepts are trialed. The exhibitions are supported by the City of Kassel, the State of Hesse, the Federal Cultural Foundation and other partners, and are accompanied by a museum, a research archive and a live program.
Documenta (often stylized documenta) is an exhibition of contemporary art which takes place every five years in Kassel, Germany. Documenta was founded by artist, teacher and curator Arnold Bode in 1955 as part of the Bundesgartenschau (Federal Horticultural Show) which took place in Kassel at that time. [1]
