Sir Francis Drake ( Tavistock, 13 luglio 1540 – Portobelo, 28 gennaio 1596) è stato un corsaro, navigatore e politico inglese. Membro di spicco dei famosi Sea Dogs, fu il primo inglese a circumnavigare il globo, dal 1577 al 1580, e fu insignito del titolo di cavaliere al suo ritorno dalla regina Elisabetta I .

Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540 – 28 January 1596) was an English explorer and privateer best known for his circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition between 1577 and 1580. This was the first English circumnavigation, and third circumnavigation overall.

25 giu 2020 · Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540-1596 CE) was an English mariner, privateer and explorer who in 1588 CE helped defeat the Spanish Armada of Philip II of Spain (r. 1556-1598 CE) which attempted to invade the kingdom of Elizabeth I of England (r. 1558-1603 CE).
