Storia. Costituita col nome di Raritan Township nel 1870 [1], ha cambiato il suo nome in quello attuale a seguito di un referendum popolare nel 1954 [1]. Il nome fu scelto in onore del grande inventore Thomas Edison, che visse qui tra il 1876 e il 1886, anni nei quali, tra le altre cose, portò a termine il fonografo e la lampadina . Note.

Edison is a township located in Middlesex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Situated in Central New Jersey within the core of the state's Raritan Valley region, Edison is a commercial hub (home to Menlo Park Mall and Little India) and is a bedroom community of New York City within the New York metropolitan area.

Edison, township (town), northern Middlesex county, New Jersey, U.S., just northeast of New Brunswick. It is the site of Menlo Park, where the inventor Thomas A. Edison established his research laboratory in 1876. Part of Woodbridge and Piscataway townships before 1870, it was known as Raritan township until 1954, when it was renamed for Edison.
