  5. Elementary Flying Training. Elementary Flying Training (EFT) lasts for up to 6 months and is conducted on either the Grob Tutor 115E or the Grob Prefect 120TP. It is mainly conducted at RAF Barkston Heath and RAF Wittering, however may be conducted at other locations with University Air Squadrons.

  6. 3 Flying Training School has its headquarters at RAF Cranwell. The School is responsible for Elementary Flying Training (EFT) and Multi-Engine Pilot Training (MEPT), including Mission Crew (Fixed wing and ISTAR) and Remotely Piloted Air Systems, for all of the three UK armed forces.

  7. Remotely Piloted Aircraft System. If you are streamed to Pilot (ISR) RPAS, after elementary flying training you will complete pre-employment training and then a 13 week Basic Phase. On successful completion you will be awarded your flying badge and then progress to the Advanced Phase, 6 weeks.
