George Stubbs ARA (25 August 1724 – 10 July 1806) was an English painter, best known for his paintings of horses. Stubbs was born in Liverpool, the son of a currier, or leather-dresser, John Stubbs, and his wife Mary.

25 nov 2023 · George Stubbs revolutionised the painting of horses and other animals with his rigorous investigations of their anatomy published in his book The Anatomy of the Horse. Stubbs was born in Liverpool in 1724 the son of a currier and was largely self-taught as an artist.
STUBBS, George. Pittore, nato a Liverpool il 24 agosto 1724, morto a Londra il 10 luglio 1806. Verso il 1744 lasciò la sua città nativa e lavorò come pittore di ritratti a Wigan, Leeds e finalmente a York, dove studiò anatomia e fece conferenze su tale argomento.
