12 gen 2019 · 01.12.2019. On 1 December, Josep Borrell assumed the post of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission. Following the vote of the European Parliament on 27 November, and the appointment by the European Council, the new European Commission took office on 1 December 2019.
About foreign affairs policy. Together with the European Commission and with the assistance of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, the Council's main role is to ensure the unity, consistency and effectiveness of the EU's external action.
