19 mar 2023 · In 1893 a university extension college, which has eventually developed into the University of Exeter, was established at Exeter to co-ordinate the higher education provided in that area, and a similar college followed at Colchester in 1896, in both of which much interest was shown in Cambridge.
4 giorni fa · College buildings range from medieval to modern, but most are made up of interlinked quadrangles (courtyards), with a porter's lodge controlling entry from the outside. 2008 saw the first modern merger of colleges, with Green College and Templeton College merging to form Green Templeton College.

20 mar 2023 · To the south Homerton Terrace was largely middle-class but Morning Lane with 32 names and Water Lane with 99 were humbler, as were New Cut (later Ball's Buildings and from 1894 Link Street) with 41, Bridge (from 1938 Ponsford) Street with 29, and Shepherd's Lane with 60.

20 mar 2023 · Another college of this period, Hackney Academy or College, or Theological Seminary, grew out of a secondary school kept by the Revd. John Eyre (1754-1803) at his house in Well Street. (fn. 123) His pupil, Robert Aspland (1782-1845), kept Hackney Unitarian Academy at Durham House, from 1812 to 1818.
