Collection Overview. Table of contents. Description. Representing Julius Shulman's career as an architectural photographer from 1935 to 2009, the archive documents the modern movement in architecture spanning 60 years and serves as a historical record of the Southern California landscape.
I propose that what we see in some architectural photographs involves our visual construct of space and time, and bears upon our cognition of essential architectural qualities. To demonstrate this, I offer case studies of architectural photographs from mid-century America, the works by Julius Shulman and Ezra Stoller.
