Description of Historic Place. The Kitsilano Secondary School site is comprised of a joined complex of buildings built separately in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver between 1911 and 1973, a playing field, a blacktop multiple games area, a blacktop parking area and driveway, and some formal landscaped areas in front of the 1911 building.
The project to relocate and reuse the “Little Yellow School House” in Kitsilano is no small feat of engineering and logistics. Between Tuesday night and late Wednesday afternoon, the original schoolhouse structure on the grounds of Henry Hudson Elementary School will be making its journey to its new home on the North Shore.

Kitsilano Secondary School, like the neighbourhood where it is located, was named after Xats’alánexw (Khahtsahlanogh).He was a highly respected family headman, or siy̓ám̓ of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) who shared kinship ties to the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Peoples and other Coast Salish communities.
