Based on their theory, metaphor is not just a linguistic device but a cognitive mechanism through which we make sense of abstract concepts by mapping them onto more concrete domains of experience.
5 giorni fa · In later work, Lakoff and Johnson (1999) suggest metaphors are based on embodied human experiences. In this conceptual metaphor theory view, metaphor is seen as part of a much bigger system of human thought and communication and not simply as an ornamental feature of language.
