The Institute is located in Union Square on East 15th Street, also known as Lee Strasberg Way, in New York City, New York. The school has a secondary campus located in Los Angeles, California. For more than 40 years, the Institute has held a partnership with New York University 's Tisch School of the Arts , where students can earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. [1]
Both campuses teach Lee Strasberg’s Method in its purest form and offer the same core classes. Elective classes, however, will vary at each campus and are subject to change. Each campus has unique features and offerings reflective of the cultures of New York (Broadway) and Los Angeles (Hollywood).
The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute® in Los Angeles has a few amazing rental spaces available to you and your production! Our beautiful Marilyn Monroe Theatre is a red brick New York style 99 Seat Theatre. This equity stage is equipped with modern lighting and sound equipment, 5 dressing rooms, and a newly remodeled Theatre Lounge.
NOTABLE ALUMNI. The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute® is the culmination of Lee Strasberg’s work. His students represent the 50 years Lee Strasberg spent training actors—from the Group Theatre in 1931, through the Actors Studio and The Institute until 1981, and beyond through The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute.
