The Fra Mauro map is a map of the world made around 1450 by the Italian ( Venetian) cartographer Fra Mauro, which is “considered the greatest memorial of medieval cartography ." [1] . It is a circular planisphere drawn on parchment and set in a wooden frame that measures over two by two meters.

Original artefact: The completion of the mappa mundi is dated August 20, 1460, by an inscription carved on the back. The map was made with inks and tempera paints on parchment sheets glued to a revolving circular wooden platform (about 196 cm in diameter), which is housed on an almost square wooden support (223x233 cm) with a circular opening in the centre, which is slightly larger than the round.
