Narbonne (Occitan: Narbona) is a French commune, a subprefecture in the Aude department. It is in the Occitanie region. It is also the capital of the arrondissement of Narbonne. It was a wealthy port and major city in Roman times but now is at about 15 km (9.3 mi) from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
