COLNE. Calna, 1230; Kaun, 1241; Caune, 1251; Colne, 1311. The chapelry of Colne embraces the townships of Colne, Marsden and Foulridge, Barrowford Booth in Pendle, and Trawden. The main portion of Colne township lies on the north side of the stream here called Colne Water, (fn. 1) flowing west to join Pendle Water, a tributary of the Calder.
