Parental Guidance (PG) – Parental guidance recommended. The content is mild in impact. It is not recommended for viewing or playing by persons under 15 without guidance from parents or guardians. Mature (M) – Recommended for mature audiences. The content is moderate in impact.
Established in 1968, the film rating system provides parents with the information needed to determine if a film is appropriate for their children. Ratings are determined by the Classification and Ratings Administration (CARA), via a board comprised of an independent group of parents.
Classification is the process of giving age ratings and content advice to films and other audiovisual content to help children and families choose what’s right for them and avoid what’s not. Recommendations are made by our Compliance Officers based on the BBFC’s published Guidelines.
PG Parental Guidance. PG-rated content is suitable for general viewing. A PG should generally not unsettle a child aged around eight, although parents and caregivers should be aware that some scenes may be unsuitable for more sensitive children. Dangerous behaviour.
Rated PG: Parental guidance suggested – Some material may not be suitable for children. Rated PG-13: Parents strongly cautioned – Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Rated R: Restricted – Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Rated NC-17: Adults only – No one 17 and under admitted.
