His first cousin and future wife, Victoria , had been born earlier in the same year with the assistance of the same midwife, Charlotte von Siebold . [3]

In 1821, the couples mutual grandmother – Dowager Duchess Augusta of Saxe-Conurg – described the prince as the ‘pendant to the pretty cousin’ (1) and, as a result, Albert grew up knowing of the plans.
