2 gen 2015 · RAF Shawbury provides world-class training to around 900 personnel a year, from the UK Armed Forces and international partners. No.1 Flying Training School trains helicopter aircrew for the Armed Forces. The Central Flying School (Helicopter) delivers Qualified Helicopter Instructors.
Both schools are based at RAF Shawbury and operate Juno HT1 and the Jupiter HT1 helicopters. Juno and Jupiter helicopters from RAF Shawbury may also operate outside of Low Flying Area 9, in any part of the UK Military Low Flying System.
RAF Shawbury's mission statement is "To provide a safe, efficient, and effective airfield base environment; to enable and support, commanded, lodged and parented units; and to deliver wider Defence and RAF tasks as directed". The station is home to the School of Air Operations Control. No.1 Flying Training School
