In every neighborhood there’s always an Italian section. This is true even on Sesame Street. Over its 50-year history, many Italian American performers, writers, camera operators, producers and researchers have contributed to Sesame Street’s mission to create television that is not only fun but also educational.
Ruthie explains that hearing the same song over and over can be annoying. Elmo doesn't understand, so Ruthie sings her own song: an operatic count to 8. She sings it over and over, but finds Elmo actually wants to hear it multiple times. When Ruthie gives up, Elmo goes back to playing his song. A lizard, a girl and a dog dance.

Joey is a young Italian-American boy who first appeared on Sesame Street in Season 54. He and his father reportedly live above Hooper's Store and enjoy cooking together. He first appeared on the show in Episode 5401, making a background cameo at the Sesame Street laundromat. He has previously debuted, in animated form, in the web series "Power of We Club."
