His drug use still feels very modern so even if you changed the specific drugs being (ab)used it hardly needs to change. I think more explicit awareness of social issues would be inevitable. That doesn't mean you have to go full on "Comrade Holmes and his Socialist Cyberpunk Adventures" (although I would totally buy that book) but you'd probably emphasise certain things more.
