5 giorni fa · In the 1920s the university created one of the country’s first schools of international relations and of public administration, as well as a pioneer program in cinematography. The first doctoral degree was awarded in 1923. The university officially became nonsectarian in 1926.
History. On October 6, 1880, the University of Southern California opened its doors to its first students. Fifty-three young men and women were enrolled in its two departments, the “academic” or preparatory department and the college department, later referred to as the College of Liberal Arts.
