Palatinate (German: Pfalz) is a German wine-growing region (Weinbaugebiet) in the area of Bad Dürkheim, Neustadt an der Weinstraße, and Landau in Rhineland-Palatinate. Before 1993, it was known as Rhine Palatinate (Rheinpfalz).
The Palatinate region ranks alongside the Moselle as the largest producer of Riesling in the world with around 5,000 hectares devoted to the grape. It is also the biggest red wine region in Germany.
