The oldest member of the House of Wettin who is known for certain is Theodoric I of Wettin, also known as Dietrich, Thiedericus, and Thierry I of Liesgau (died c. 982). He was most probably based in the Liesgau (located at the western edge of the Harz ).

Teodorico I di Wettin o di Liesgau, conosciuto anche come Tiederico o Thiedrico (in tedesco Dietrich e in francese Thierry ), ( Grimma, ... – 976 circa) è considerato il più vecchio membro rintracciabile della casata di Wettin. Fu al servizio del margravio di Meißen Rikdag, di cui era anche parente da parte di padre [1] [2] .

Teodorico I (X secolo; tedesco: Dietrich, noto anche come Thierry) era un nobile del Ducato di Sassonia e il più antico membro rintracciabile della Casa di Wettin. Teodorico nacque all'inizio del X secolo da genitori sconosciuti. Sposò Jutta di Magdeburgo. Ebbero due figli, Dedo e Federico.
