Established in 1983 and covering 2,550 square kilometres (985 sq mi), it is one of Finland's largest protected areas. It is named after Urho Kekkonen, late President and Prime Minister of Finland. The Suomujoki river flows through the northern parts of the diverse park.

Il parco nazionale Urho Kekkonen (in finlandese: Urho Kekkosen kansallispuisto) è un parco nazionale della Finlandia, nella provincia della Lapponia. È stato istituito nel 1983 e occupa una superficie di 2.550 km². Il parco prende il nome da Urho Kekkonen, presidente e primo ministro finlandese.

Urho Kekkonen National Park is a national park in Finnish Lapland. With an area of 2,550 km 2 (980 sq mi) it is the second largest national park in Finland. It has good connections and services near Saariselkä , while the backcountry is popular among wilderness backpackers.
