April 4 – President William Henry Harrison dies of pneumonia, aged 68, becoming the first president of the United States to die in office, and at one month, the American president with the shortest term served. He is succeeded by Vice President John Tyler, who becomes the tenth president of the United States.
20 January – Convention of Chuenpi agreed between Charles Elliot and Qishan of the Qing dynasty. 26 January – the United Kingdom formally occupies Hong Kong. 27 January – the active volcano Mount Erebus in Antarctica is discovered and named by James Clark Ross. [2]

3 lug 2019 · 1841 . March 4: William Henry Harrison was inaugurated as president of the United States. He delivered a two-hour inaugural address in very cold weather. As a result, he caught pneumonia, from which he never recovered. Spring: A free Black New Yorker, Solomon Northup, was lured to Washington, D.C., drugged, kidnapped, and enslaved.
