William II (29 April 1469 – 11 July 1509) was Landgrave of Lower Hesse from 1493 and Landgrave of Upper Hesse after the death of his cousin, William III, Landgrave of Upper Hesse in 1500.
William II, Landgrave of Hesse-Wanfried-Rheinfels (also known as William the Younger; born: 25 August 1671 in Langenschwalbach; died: 1 April 1731 in Paris, and also buried there) was a son of the Landgrave Charles of Hesse-Wanfried (1649–1711) and his first wife, Countess Sophie Magdalene of Salm-Reifferscheid (d. 1675).
After his death, she married on 28 October 1851 Karl Adolf Graf von Hohenthal (1811–1875), by whom she had two sons: Karl Adolf (b. 1853) and Karl Ludwig (b. 1857). William died on 20 November 1847 and was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, Frederick William, the last Elector of Hesse.
William I (IX) (1743 – 1821) Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel and Elector of Hesse from 1803 to 1806 and from 1813. 1806 annexed by the Kingdom of Westphalia, 1813 restored. Grandmaster of the House-order of the Golden Lion.
William II became Landgrave of Lower Hesse in 1493, after his brother William I resigned. On 9 November 1497 William II married Yolande, daughter of Frederick II of Vaudémont. She died on 21 May 1500 after the marriage produced one child, William (27 March 1500 – 8 April 1500).
