Ḥantamah bint Hishām ( Arabic: حنتمة بنت هشام) was the mother of Umar ibn al-Khattab and wife of Khattab ibn Nufayl. She lived during the 6th century and was a contemporary of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Her son Umar would become Muslim and is regarded as the second "Rightly guided Caliph" (Arabic "Rashidun") by Muslims (except Shiites ).

His father was Khattab ibn Nufayl and his mother was Hantama bint Hisham, from the tribe of Banu Makhzum. In his youth he used to tend to his father's camels in the plains near Mecca. His merchant father was famed for his intelligence among his tribe. [11]
He was the son of al-Mughira ibn Abd Allah, one of the leaders of the Quraish. One of his daughters was Hantamah, who was the mother of Umar. [2] By his wife Asma bint Mukharraba, he was the father of Abu Jahl, the notorious opponent of Islamic prophet Muhammad. [3]
Fatima was the daughter of Khattab ibn Nufayl and her mother was Hantamah bint Hisham. Her husband: 296 : 301 His father was murdered in 605.,: 103 Sa'id became a Muslim not later than 614.: 116 : 299 Her husband Sa'id has been described as a tall, hairy, dark-skinned man. Fatima was also an early convert.

1 feb 2021 · Biography. Ḥantamah was born about 0555. She is the daughter of Hāshim ibn Mughīrah. She is the mother of the second Rashidun Caliph ‘Umar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb. [1] Her mother was ash-Shifā’ bint ‘Abd Qays ibn ‘Adī ibn Sa‘d ibn Sahm ibn ‘Amr ibn Haṣīṣ.
