Garðabær is a growing town in the Capital Region. It is the sixth largest town in Iceland with a population of 18,990 (March 1, 2023). The site of Garðabær has been inhabited since Iceland was first settled in the 9th century.

Garðabær ist eine Stadt im Südwesten Islands in der dicht besiedelten Region Höfuðborgarsvæðið zwischen Hafnarfjörður und Kópavogur südlich von Reykjavík. Mit 18.891 Einwohnern ist sie die fünftgrößte Stadt und sechstgrößte Gemeinde des Landes.
Garðabær is a municipality in the Capital Region of Iceland. In 2019, 16,299 people lived there. The municipality of Álftanes was merged into the neighboring municipality of Garðabær in January 2013.

It is situated in Álftanes (Garðabær Municipality), about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) from the capital city, Reykjavík.
Garðabær er sveitarfélag á höfuðborgarsvæðinu á milli Kópavogs og Hafnarfjarðar. Íbúar eru tæplega 19.000 (mars 2023). Garðahreppur varð til árið 1878, ásamt Bessastaðahreppi, þegar Álftaneshreppi var skipt í tvo hluta. Var hann kenndur við kirkjustaðinn Garða á Álftanesi.
Ungmennafélagið Stjarnan, commonly known as Stjarnan, is an Icelandic multi-sports club specialising in handball, football, basketball, volleyball and gymnastics located in Garðabær.
